Your game have nice graphics but... it's a bit weird to play.

First, can you include a "How to play" screen ? Or telling us how to play in the game description ?
It was a chance i clicked then it made moving my Santa.

Now the big problem of your game is :
When you change to an other layer, Santa don't go right down under himself, he moves a bit to the right, then when he came back to the top, he came back to its first position on the left.

It make the game really not fun to play because you can't aim clearly.

I won't complain after the fact that we can only go down, it can be an original concept. But it can't work great because of the point above.

netcad3d responds:

Thanks for the comments and reviews. As for Santa's mistake when it comes down is a bug that is being solved. In the meantime, a more up-to-date

The game is intesting and the concept is good.
i think the controls would be better with a cross and not two parallel lines but it's my opinion.

Nice.

TheBarberians responds:

Hi, thanks for your feedback. It's a good idea. I will think about that.

What the hell.
The game is kinda good but wow.
That music is killing me.

The hitboxes are not good : the triangle at the end of the first level never touch me but kill me.
And using a physic bug like a gameplay mechanic is really weird (end of levels, we have to be under the plateform to go over it, instead of jumping from the side to reach the top...)

I'm not against hard games, it's ok but when they are made with a good challenge, not things that kill you even if you are good where you are.
When you do hard games, the first thing you have to think is : the player should never think it's the game fault if he loses. It always have to be its own fault because he isn't good enough.

In your case, i always think it's the fault of your game. I still liked some levels i tried but i ragequitted fast.

FlamesAtGames responds:

yo my dude i feel bad for you that you spent time writing that big of a review

this was just a little test thing i did for a school project, and it's literally the first game i ever made.
don't actually expect anything from this.

It's a bit weird to understand what we have to do when we start the game. A tiny tutorial only to say :
- What the game will ask you
- How to answer (how points work)
And that game would be perfect.

Nice job (even if i don't like much the graphics, but the goal of the game is cool and it's well made)

AthleticDesign responds:

Thanks, yes some additional instructions should be presented on/from the front screen. Our goal was to make the game so accessible that instructions were not needed, but you are right - more explicit instructions can't hurt. If you point on the score label on the card, scoring rules will be displayed, but, yea, easy to miss.

The game is good.
It's challenging, the graphics are smooth and cool.

But i miss some sounds, i feel strange facing a so empty context.
The bounce of the balls or the canon, it's akward to see them moving without any sounds.

But overall it's a quite good game :)

aflagames responds:

Thank you for your comment :)

Will think about adding new sounds :)

nice game guys !
i found two little things you should correct : the first checkpoint was already down before i reach it, and when i keep left arrow pressed, my Octo continue to walk a little between each text. It's minor but still there :p
I wish you the best for your game !

squidly responds:

Fixed the checkpoint issue, as for the walking, yea, I'm still trying to figure that one out :\

Yeah ! A totally weird game and glaucous. But, it's funny.
I think you should add a "Restart" button.

mctoast responds:

Thanks for the review and the idea. :)

This game is cool.
But wow, art is special... maybe you shouldn't resize your sprites, it pixelates them and it's not pleasant to watch.
The thing which upset me totally is your texts. I cant' see my score ! Your background is brown, and the text is brown, so how can we see it ? I gave score as example, but it's the same for every texts.

"Game is extremely difficult". I don't think so. I scored 6442, i don't know if it's a good score but i think i have reached the 5,000 you told.
I had to try a lot, because sometimes rocks of both side are joined. I don't have any way to go through. Nevertheless, it's addicting.

EliteGamesIndustries responds:

Thanks you for you comment! We will fix the text in the next update for your convience! The sprites we will look into fixing. Thanks again!

Your game is truly interesting !
But it need some polish.

There is some bugs :
- If you lost the comics at the start of the game by dragging them to much, you need to refresh because it stuck you (use "Bound to layout" behavior for not letting it disapearing from the screen)
- If you are killing a purple monster, then you leave him, and touch him again, it kill you.
- On the world 2, level 2, platforms are falling by themselves at the start of the level, before you touch them

Nevertheless, i like your concept.
But is this game related to "future in 2030" ?

Luminem responds:

Thanks you very much for telling me the bugs :) but how I said to another guy, I won't be able to fix them before Construct 2 jam.. so :/
And yes, I know the main theme isnt' 2030, but the game mention 'future technology' and 'past technology'. When Tom Fulp wrote the post about the jam, I read it and the theme hadn't to be exactly future in 2030 or that was what I understood ;)

The game is not bad, but should be developed.

It's a really hard game. Aiming spaceships looks totally impossible. Every 3s i explode because i press left, my ship go left, i release it, my ship rotate backward... and i fail my shots.
And pressing at any time the spacebar is really annoying. You can do two options :
-> Automatic shoot (the ship will always shoot)
-> Using "Is pressed" event instead of "On pressed" trigger.

Nevertheless, the speed is interesting. Maybe some players will find it too fast, but in my opinion, going fast with a spaceship is really cool. Graphics and music are nice.

Continue like that ;)

theritalinkid responds:

Thanks for the feedback. I'll look at adding autofire instead of single shot. I started running out of events (and time) so a lot of features hit the cutting room floor. I'm getting better with Construct 2 (this is my second game with the program) and I'm still trying to figure a better way to control the ship. I tried asteroids style controls, and that ended in tears.
